The first days of 2020’s lockdown seem to drag forever for a group of tourists trapped in a Thai hotel. In strict confinement and as the big day of an unexpected event approaches, emotional entanglements, tensions and long kept secrets rise to the surface.
Wang Xiaoshuai is one of the pioneers of
Chinese independent film. Wang’s films were
shortlisted at major film festivals eight times and
nominated for Competition six times. ‘Beijing
Bicycle’ (2001) won Silver Bear at Berlinale; ‘In
Love We Trust’ (2008) won Silver Bear for Best
Screenplay at Berlinale and ‘Shanghai Dreams’
(2005) won the Grand Jury Prize in Cannes.
