Celebrity model couple, Carl (Harris Dickinson) and Yaya (Charlbi Dean) are invited on a luxury cruise for the uber-rich, helmed by an unhinged boat captain (Woody Harrelson). What first appeared instagrammable ends catastrophically, leaving the survivors stranded on a desert island and fighting for survival.
Ruben Östlund (b. 1974, Sweden) debuted in feature films in 2005 with ‘The Guitar Mongoloid’, winner of the FIPRESCI at Moscow. His ‘Involuntary’ (2008) screened in Un Certain Regard, Cannes. He returned with ‘Snow Therapy’ (2014) which won the Jury Prize in Un Certain Regard. He won the Golden Palm for ‘The Square’ (2017).
