15वीं शताब्दी के वैष्णव संत, श्रीमंत शंकरदेव एक धार्मिक नेता और उच्चकोटि के समाज सुधारक थे। उन्होंनें समाज को जाति व्यवस्था और कठोर धार्मिक बंधनों से मुक्त करने के लिए लगातार संघर्ष किया। स्वभाव से प्रगतिशील विचारधारा के शंकरदेव भारतवर्ष में एक समतावादी समाज का निर्माण करना चाहते थे। फिल्म गुरुजन, (उन्हें उनके अनुयायी इसी नाम से बुलाते थे) जिन्हें भगवान विष्णु के अवतार के तौर पर जाना जाता था उनकी यात्रा की एक संगीतमय प्रस्तुति है।

15th century Vaishnavite saint, Srimanta Sankardeva was a religious leader and a social reformer of outstanding merit. He relentlessly fought to free the society from the clutches of the caste system and stringent religious practises. A progressive visionary by nature, he wanted to build an egalitarian society in Bharatvarsh. The film Gurujana, as he is known by his followers, rendered musically is a unique experience of knowing the great man often revered as the reincarnation of lord Vishnu.
