Accessible India- Accessible Films
The IFFI believes in making cinema an inclusive and accessible avenue for everyone. Therefore, the 53rd IFFI has taken up the initiative of organizing dedicated screenings for specially-abled people keeping in mind their accessibility needs. The films in this section will be audio-visual-equipped, with embedded audio descriptions and subtitles. The section will feature two films; Gandhi directed by Richard Attenborough and The Storyteller directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, which is also one of the three qualifying Indian films for the International competition at IFFI this year.

तारिणी रंजन बंदोपाध्याय एक घुमक्कड़ कहानीकार है, जो एक नौकरी में टिक के नहीं रह पाती है और अपनी जिंदगी में करीब 32 नौकरियां बदल चुका है। अब 60 की उम्र में कोलकाता में रह रहा सेवानिवृत्त और विधुर रंजन को एक ही बात का अफसोस है कि वह कभी अपनी स्वर्गीय पत्नी को उसके जीते जी कहीं छुट्टी पर नहीं ले जा सका, जिसकी उसे हमेशा से ज़रूरत थी। और अब अचानक, जब नौकरी नहीं है, उसके पास वक्त ही वक्त है लेकिन उसकी करीबी साथी ही उसके साथ नहीं है ।
Tarini Ranjan Bandhopadhyay, a maverick storyteller, is notorious for not sticking to one job and has switched 32 jobs in his working career. Now at 60, retired in Kolkata and a widower, his only regret is that he could never find the time to give his late wife Anuradha the vacation she always desired. And now suddenly, out of a job, he has all the time in the world, but his near ones aren’t close to him.
