Set in rural India, Sumi is an ‘optimistic & inspiring tale’ of the 12-yearold underprivileged Sumati, who dreams of getting a bicycle to commute to her school which is many miles away from her village. To meet her modest need, she embarks on an extraordinary journey marked by struggle, ambition, commitment, and friendship. ‘Sumi’ won the Best Child Actor Award at the Indian National Film Awards in 2021.
Amol Gole (b. 1979, India) is an Indian cinematographer who has shot many Hindi films including ‘Stanley ka Dabba’, ‘Hawaa Hawaai’, ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’, ‘Touring Talkies’ and ‘Investment’ among others. Gole has also shot the internationally acclaimed documentary ‘Nero’s Guests’ based on journalist P. Sainath’s work on issues related to the agrarian crisis.
